Workflow Event: Basic information added to existing Contact Card

This Event occurs when specific basic information is added to a Contact (i.e., when a Contact Card is updated with new information of a specific type).

The Event will occur if the specific basic information is added to a Contact Card:

  • when provided by the Contact through a form on your website or through the Customer Preference Center >>,
  • when transferred via API (provided that the fireEvents flag is set to true, which is the default setting),
  • when added manually on the Contact Card.

The Event will not occur when:

  • the new basic information is imported from a CSV or XLSX file (Contact data import),
  • a new Contact is added to your database,
  • the specific information selected in the Event’s settings is updated with a new value. See also the Event: Basic information modified on Contact Card >>

After adding this Event to your Workflow, define the following settings:

[1] Name—Select the basic information which, when provided, will cause the Event to occur.

The list includes most of the basic information types that can be found on the Contact Card Dashboard:

For example, if you select City from the list, and John Smith provides his full address through a pop-up on your website, his Contact Card will be updated and the Event will occur.

[2] Follow an alternative path after—This option will only be available if this Event is not the triggering Event for the Workflow (i.e., if it is preceded by another Event, a Condition, or an Action, and not directly connected with the Start element). Here, you can specify the time after a previous Event/Condition/Action for which the system will wait for this Event to occur.

If the Event occurs within the specified time, the primary path will be followed immediately.

If the Event does not occur within the specified time, the alternative path will be followed.
