Workflow Event: Link in email clicked by Contact

This Event occurs when a Contact clicks on a link included in your email(s).

This can be a specific link (a specific URL address) or any link in the selected email(s).

After adding this Event to your Workflow, define the following settings:

[1] Email—Select the email that contains the link that will cause the Event to occur. The list includes all your emails from the Standard tab on the Email List. Note that this Event will also occur if the email was sent as a birthday or periodic email, or as part of an A/B test.

You can select more than one email [A]. The selected emails will be connected by the OR operator, which means that the Event will occur if a Contact clicks on a link in any of these emails.

[2] URL path—Specify the URL address which, when clicked, will cause the Event to occur. Do not include the protocol (https://) and the www subdomain.

EXAMPLE: If you enter “email-design-studio”, the Event will occur when a Contact clicks, e.g., on the following links:

If you enter “/email-design-studio”, the Event will occur when a Contact clicks, e.g., on the following links:

https://support.salesmanago.com/email-design-studio/

https://support.salesmanago.com/email-design-studio-first-steps/

If you leave this field empty, the Event will occur when a Contact clicks on any link included in the selected email(s), except for any opt-in and opt-out links.

IMPORTANT:

  • Do not include the protocol (https://) and the www subdomain. CORRECT: salesmanago.com, salesmanago.com/marketing-automation/workflow-generator.htm INCORRECT: https://salesmanago.com, www.salesmanago.com, https://www.salesmanago.com
  • If you want the Event to occur for links leading to an external domain, make sure that the option Use redirect in mailings (Menu → Settings → System settings → Application tab) is enabled.

[3] Follow an alternative path after—This option will only be available if this Event is not the triggering Event for the Workflow (i.e., if it is preceded by another Event, a Condition, or an Action, and not directly connected with the Start element). Here, you can specify the time after a previous Event/Condition/Action for which the system will wait for this Event to occur.

If the Event occurs within the specified time, the primary path will be followed immediately.

If the Event does not occur within the specified time, the alternative path will be followed.
